Shimmer Lip Gloss

Shimmer Lip Gloss is “A sheer lip gloss with a bit of shimmer to create a sensual mouth. Adds shine and color to highlight your natural tone of lips or wear over Lip Color for a touch of shimmer.”

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Lip gloss comes in an itty biddy .15 fl oz. tube. The container is 3 inches long, with only about 2 inches of that being product. It’s not much. As a matter of fact, it’s about the same amount of product found in an Urban Decay Mini Lipgunk.

Shimmer Lip Gloss tube is square with a typical gloss wand, however the applicator of the wand isn’t typical. The wand is made out of stiff nylon bristles that are about quarter inch in length.

Ingredients:
Polybutene, carylic/capric triglyceride, jojoba oil, avocado, oil, lanolin oil, corn oil, tocopheryl acetate, retinyl palmitate, aloe extract, bisabolol, octyl methoxycinnamate, tocopherol, ascorbyl palmitate, fragrance, propylparaben. May contain:iron oxides, titanium dioxide, mica, carmine, D&C red no 6, FD&C yellow no. 5 aluminum lake, D&C Red no 7 calcium lake, FD&C Yillow no 5, D&C Red no 28 aluminum lake, FD&C blue no1 aluminum lake, FD&C yellow no 6 aluminum lake.

Pros:
Shimmer Lip Gloss has a wonderful texture. It doesn’t melt off, or even bleed due to its gel-like feel. It’s very smooth after applied to your lips and gives them a heavy moisturized feel without being greasy or oily.

Cons:
Shimmer Lip Gloss color doesn’t last. The actual texture lasts, but the color disappears in an hour or two with no eating or drinking. The gloss is still there, and there’s a shiny appearance to my lips, but the color is gone out of it. So even though it feels like you still have a color gloss on, it doesn’t look like you have a color gloss on. It just looks like you have some semi shiny gloss on.

Six "Sexy Lips" Tips

By Allison Saunders

Full, soft, inviting lips. Want them? We all do, and now we
all can have them. Here’s the kiss and tell on luscious
lips.

#1 Hands off. Let’s start simple, with a line you may have
heard in your youth. Mom always told you and so will we –
stop biting and licking your lips. It smears your color and
irritates your lips. Keep utensils and pens away from your
lips. It’ll keep your pucker pretty and keep lipstick off
your teeth.

#2 Hydrate yourself inside and out. Water, water, everywhere.
Be sure to drink your share. You know you need to drink at
least eight glasses of water a day. Here’s another reason to
do it. Water is vital to tissue health.

#3 Protect your lips from wind and sun damage. Always wear
lip balm with a SPF of 15 or higher. Always. And, don’t
forget your lip balm. It moisturizes your lips and serves
as a base for your lip color. Wear it in place of lip color
on no make-up days. Worn under your lipstick, it’ll even
help extend the life of your color.

#4 Lip liner can be a lifesaver. Lip liner serves two main purposes. It solves size and shape problems. It reins in
your color. Thin lips? Following the lip line, outline your
natural lip shape slightly beyond the edge of your lip.
Thick lips? Lucky you. If you think they’re too thick
(is there really such a thing?), try the opposite.
Following your lip line, outline your natural lip shape
just inside the edge of your lip.

Lining your lips helps keep your lip color from seeping out
to the skin around your mouth. So, if your lipstick seems
to migrate, then lip liner can keep it in place. One
caveat to using lip liner: Your lip liner should not
actually be visible once your lipstick is applied. So,
choose your lip liner carefully. If the world sees an
outline around your mouth, you’re using the wrong liner.

#5 Lip color sends a message. The color you choose says
something about how you view yourself and how you want
others to view you. What does your favorite lip color say?

Pale pink: pretty and sweet.

Red: chic or daring.

Coral: fiery and adventurous.

Brown tones: classic and timeless.

In fact, browns are a universally great choice. Every mouth
can wear brown.

#6 Get glossy. Lip gloss is not just for teens. A little
gloss worn on low-key days brightens up your face. Lip
gloss applied over your daytime makeup transforms you into
a party girl. Lip gloss dotted just in the center of your
lips creates a pouty look.

Your lips are ready… are you? You’ve pampered, primed,
lined and colored yourself all the way to a perfect pair
of lips. So pucker up …

Tips For Choosing The Perfect Gloss For Your Lips

by Paul Graham

One should remember that perfection is ten percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration. So searching for the lip gloss that best suits the lip color and lip tone one has is an endeavor that requires patience, perseverance and a little (just a little) bit of luck. Hopefully, the following tips will better the chances of discovering the lip gloss that best suits the lips you have on you.

1. Be open, do not forget to experiment!

There are numerous brands of lip gloss and the prices of each vary. A $7 lip gloss bought at a neighborhood drugstore is not necessarily inferior in quality compared to an $18 Poole lip gloss compact. Lips could only appreciate the texture, smoothness, silkiness of the gloss or feel its heaviness, stickiness, or icky-ness. Little do lips care about how much the lip gloss cost or where it was bought. Though high-end lip glosses at times do offer a super-glossy feel that it almost glides delightfully on the lips, there are also not too expensive lip glosses like Bonne Bell which could give the high-end brands a run for their money. A label is not everything. Sometimes, a great find could be found in dollar stores. Try your luck, win or lose, its all worth a dollar. But, if buying in a drugstore or at Wal-mart, make sure that extensive research has been done on the lip gloss product you are considering of buying since drugstores offer no testers.

2. A Gloss Is Not Forever

- Reapply to preserve the dye
- Some brands, even the best ones, fade off after a few hours
- Some people really do not like the feel of a heavy gloss
- Judge by your lip color not anyone else’s

3. Selection Tips

Make sure to choose a lip gloss based on the lip color you have since the color of your lips automatically affects the color of the gloss applied on it. Never choose based on how good or bad a lip gloss looks on Jennifer Anniston or Angelina Jolie. Jennifer has thin pale lips while Angelina has full pucker-up ones. Naturally, yours is similarly worlds apart from theirs, if not better. Lip gloss colors appear differently on different kinds of people. One’s own lip color plays an important part because your natural lip color will shine through. So does your natural lip tone, the pigmentation of the lip gloss, how convenient is it when applied and whatever it is you’re looking for a lip gloss. Clearly this is as unique, individual and personalized as it could be.

4. Not All That Glitters Is Good

No matter how great it looks, make sure that the lip gloss put on the lips feels comfortable, as if it’s almost like it wasn’t there. Lip gloss glitter that feels gritty or sharp should not be tolerated by the lips or by you. Do not be afraid to return it to the store and politely explain to the store clerk or - preferably - the store manager your problem. It should be exchanged for another less grittier tube. But if the same trouble persists maybe it is time to change to a different brand, specifically one that has not too much glitter that it hurts.

5. Moisturize!

Be realistic, lip gloss gives lips a smooth shimmer, it does not provide anyone with kissable cottony-soft lips. Lip balms do that. Balms are not shiny. But it makes lips feel supple. Apply a balm over the lips first before putting on a lip gloss, this is to moisturize the lips. Gloss is supposed to be - you’ve guessed it - glossy. If it does not, troop to the shop or store where it was bought from, you are supposed to get the product you purchased for.
